Gloria Steinem is a pioneering journalist and activist who became the most recognizable face of the second-wave feminist movement in the late 20th century. She first gained national attention as a freelance writer with her daring 1963 undercover exposé, "A Bunny's Tale," which revealed the exploitative working conditions at the Playboy Club. She co-founded Ms. magazine in 1972, the first periodical created by women to address feminist issues on a mass scale. Her organizational impact was equally profound; she helped establish the National Women's Political Caucus, the Women's Action Alliance, and the Coalition of Labor Union Women.
